Collection Overview

Linville Higgin's letter to his adult grandson John Higgins provides a great deal of insight into the opinions and experience of Reconstruction era Appalachian people. He mentions his personal health, current prices for crops and his religious beliefs. He describes his marriage as being in "a grait del of trouble" due to the ill health of his wife. He also states that he is "well pleased that the "Rebs and Cucluks" lost the state convention to the Union Party.
