Biographical Note

Julian Clifton Yoder (1910- ) was the son of Robert E. and Hager Hunt Yoder of Danville, Virginia. Yoder earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill in 1949 and taught geography at Appalachian State Teachers College from 1933 to 1974. He worked as the chair of the Social Sciences Department and later of the Geography and Geology Department. He and his wife Helen Barber lived in Boone, North Carolina. They had two children, Robert Lyman and Barbara Ann.
