The North Carolina Folklore Society was founded in 1913 to promote the appreciation and study of North Carolina's folklife. In 1948, the Society began a state folklore journal. The Society also holds annual meetings and awards, provides a state folklife information center and resources center, prints a resource listing and posts a web site.
The North Carolina Folklore Society Collection of Audio-cassettes contains nine audiocassettes and two videocassettes of the 1988 North Carolina Folklore Society annual Meeting. The meeting was held April 22-23, 1988 in Boone, North Carolina. It includes seven speakers on various topics, such as Beverly Patterson on women's roles in the Primitive Baptist Church and Howard Dorgan on North Carolina's sole Old Regular Baptist Church. Music of various styles is also performed.
The North Carolina Folklore Society Collection of Audio-cassettes is organized into two series: Series 205A. Audiovisual; Series 205B. Documents. Documents housed in oversized box.
