Biographical Note

Country Ham is a bluegrass and old time string band. It originated in Washington, D.C. in the mid-1970s. In 2006, Country Ham consists of Judie Pagter (autoharp, vocals), Carl Pagter (banjo, vocals), Pete Vigour (fiddle, guitar, vocals), Ellen Vigour (mandolin, fiddle, vocals) M.D. Mallory (guitar, vocals), and Wanda Shelton (vocals). Fiddle player Joe Meadows was a band member until his death in 2003. Many of the band members live in Virginia. As of 2005, the band had released more than 15 recordings.
