Biographical Note

Harrison Aldridge (1821-1905) lived in the Watauga district of Watauga County, North Carolina. He was married to Jane "Jinsie" (1823-bef. 1900) and worked as a farmer. They raised Mary (b. 1848), Martha (1850), Samuel (b. 1862), Harrison (b. 1864), Sarah J. (b. 1866), and Monarca (b. 1870). Harrison's family was the only Aldridge family in Watauga County. The federal census first listed them in Watauga County in 1850 and they were not listed in North Carolina's 1860 Federal Census.

Circa 1883, son Samuel C. Aldridge married Margaret Melissa Buchanon (b. 1864), daughter of Betsie Buchanan (b. 1831). They had at least 11 children, two of whom died during childhood. Their children include Louis D[avidson?] (b. 1885), James R[ay?] (b. 1888), Charlotte [Gragg] (b. 1889), Horace A. (b. 1891), Stella (b. 1895), Everette McKenley (b. 1897), Romulus L. (1899), Kansas M. (b. 1902), Lonal (b. 1904).
