Collection 215. William Stewart Scott Papers

Abstract: The William Stewart Scott Collection includes the photographs and memoirs of Stewart Scott, a West Jefferson, North Carolina resident. Mr. Scott was born near Mill Creek and spent much of his life in Ashe County. He began taking photographs when he returned from World War II, and continued for over 40 years until his death in 2004. The collection contains family photographs, landscapes, and photographs of flora and fauna in the Ashe County area.

Contents: This collection consists of 48 photograph albums, 1 memoir, 22 boxes of slide carousels, one slide projector and one screen. Photographs were taken by Scott over a fifty year period. Photographs, which are predominately color, consist of landscape shots, family scenes, and buildings.

Access: No restrictions to access. No Inter-Library Loan. W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection Archives is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments are recommended.
