Manuscript Collection of the W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection
Mission
The W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection Manuscript Collection is a manuscript repository whose primary mission is documenting all aspects of the historical experience of the Appalachian Region. We collect personal and organizational papers, photographs, videocassettes, sound recordings, and audio cassettes. The collection's holdings concentrate in these categories: political figures from the Appalachian Region, Appalachian scholars, outstanding Appalachian natives in the professions (especially medical and religious), the arts, and voluntary service, families of Appalachian origins, and Appalachian organizations and organizations concerned with Appalachian issues. Materials consist of letters, diaries, writings, speeches, photographs, scrapbooks, minutes, reports, memorabilia, Appalachian periodicals, pamphlets, posters, other printed materials, films, audio tapes, videotapes, and other media. The W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection continues to acquire materials in all of the above categories. Numerous collections are offered to us every year. The staff identifies and solicits papers and records of special interest.
