Rare Books

The Belk Library and Information Commons is pleased to announce the publication of
"The Rhinehart Collection: An Annotated Bibliography".  It documents the collection of rare books focusing on British History that Bill and Maureen Rhinehart generously donated to the library’s Special Collections.

Dr. John Higby compiled this bibliography to provide researchers with an understanding of various aspects of these books: their physical state; their provenance; and notes on their authors, editors, and translators.  The annotations are interesting, erudite, and at times, witty.  The collection is housed on the fourth floor of the library, and is available for researchers by appointment. Contact the University Archivist, Dr. Hal Keiner for more information or to request a copy at keinerhc@appstate.edu or 828-262-7424.

Five hundred copies have been printed, and plans are underway to make the bibliography available through the library’s web site as a virtual catalog. More on the Rhinehart collection:  http://www.library.appstate.edu/collections/rhinehart.html
