Monday, March 31, 2008, 3:30 pm, Belk Library, Rm. 114
Since the arrival of the first Polish immigrants to Jamestown in 1608, historical events and mutual interests have brought Polish / U.S. relations progressively closer. Dr. Pastusiak will address the current state of bilateral Polish-U.S. relations and will respond to the concern of many European politicians who see a pro-American Poland as potentially America’s "Trojan Horse" in the European Union.
Dr. Longin Pastusiak is one of Poland’s eminent scholars of political thought as well as one of its most important political figures. The author of over 600 scholarly publications on international relations, he has also held many positions of leadership in the Polish government and international organizations, including President of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. Dr. Pastusiak is a visiting faculty member at Appalachian State where he is currently teaching and doing research on the 400 year history of Polish / American relations.
