Multi-Media Preview Request Procedure

Previewing expensive or unusual multi-media materials may be necessary to make wise purchasing decisions. Care must be exercised in the requesting, subsequent handling and returning of items. To limit the University Library's exposure to vendor claims for unreturned materials, the following procedures are followed:

1. Faculty are encouraged to obtain preview copies directly from vendors and to assume responsibility for the receipt and return of the previewed items. Faculty members who wish to recommend the item for purchase should contact the bibliographer assigned to their department.

2. If the item is not available for preview by individual faculty, the Library may arrange for a preview. If the Library arranges for the preview, the preview copies borrowed by the Library will be made available for viewing in the Library.

Purchase of multi-media materials for the Library collection, like other materials, will be at the discretion of the Library.
