Microform Collection

The Library of American Civilization chronicles the history of the United States from a firsthand point-of-view. Included in this collection are biographies, fiction, letters, texts of public addresses, humor, songs, essays, guide books and count less other topics regarding life in America from colonial times up to World War I.

This fascinating collection is an ideal source for those needing original sources for their research. For instance, it contains firsthand reports from generals engaged in the Civil War, documents discussing slavery, religious sermons regarding the culture of the day, health related issues of the time and papers which study industrial problems and promises.

The Library of American Civilization is kept in ultrafiche format which is a reduced-size version of microfiche. Ask for assistance in the microforms area and a high-magnification lens will be provided for viewing this collection.
