Instruction
Distance Learning Librarians are available to visit your off-campus class and design course-related instruction tailored for the class.
- Instruction will be offered in an off-site computer lab (when available) to provide hands-on instruction.
- Or, instruction sessions will be delivered from an ASU campus distance learning classroom when a receiving site is available at the remote site.
- Students will be introduced to resources and specialized library services.
- On occasion, off-campus students inquire about coming to Belk Library for an instructional session. Small group or full class sessions can be arranged.
- Additionally, we can develop class web pages, subject guides, and library assignments for your off-campus students.
- To schedule a library instruction session at an off-campus site, please complete and submit this form:

Print Reserves
The University Library has a written agreement with each of the ten Appalachian Learning Alliance community colleges. These agreements allow us to place a limited amount of print materials on reserve at those community colleges where ASU courses are taught.
Length of check-out at an off-campus site is usually at the discretion of the requesting faculty member. The community college library handles check-out and inventory procedures for the materials. Faculty are encouraged to identify reserve materials which will support your class at an off-campus site and talk with Dr. Martha Kreszock (kreszocmh@appstate.edu or 828 262-7188) to recommend purchase and make arrangements for delivery.
Distance Learning Library Services Team
