The University Writing Center is moving!

Attention university community:

The University Writing Center is moving from room 008 on the lower level of the Belk Library to a new second floor location in the same building.

Unfortunately, building a new writing center can be quite noisy, so we recommend that library patrons make use of other library areas during the second floor construction. The project is scheduled for completion in early November.

Special Collections to Reopen to the Public January 26

Special Collections, located on the 4th Floor of Belk Library and Information Commons, will reopen to the public on Monday, January 26, 2015. All regular services and hours will resume at that time.

Circulating materials in the collection are available through the Library’s Request It!

Return to 24/5 operation

Dear colleagues and students,

I am delighted to tell you that the Belk Library & Information Commons will return to 24/5 operation, Sundays through Thursdays, starting on March 16, 2014.  Provost Gonzalez and Chancellor Peacock were very eager to make this happen. I appreciate their encouragement and also wish to thank Appalachian State students for considering the Library so important to their success.

Library Hours Change for Spring 2012

For Spring 2012, the library and SGA worked to make the following changes to library late night hours:

1.  The Atrium area will close at 2 a.m. There will be no 24 hours access to the Atrium and Wired Scholar.

2.  For 2 weeks at Final exams, the library will be open 24/5 from Sunday night through Thursday nights.

Find daily hours and any holiday/break exceptions on the official library hours calendar.

Library Hours and Budget Reduction

Dear Campus Community,

Belk Library and Information Commons has had to reduce its hours of operation following a $22.8 million campus-wide reduction in state funds. While library staff members regret having to make this change, we have had to prepare for at least a $1.5 million budget cut, which is 30 percent of the library's non-personnel funds.
