Paper Forms
Federal and State paper tax forms are available at the Watauga County Public Library located at 140 Queen Street in Boone. Only a selection of the the most commonly requested forms are available.
Federal Forms Online
- Go to the IRS sub-page devoted to downloading:
http://www.irs.ustreas.gov/formspubs/lists/0,,id=97817,00.html - Be sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader loaded on your machine before you download. It is available free on the net via the tax form page or from Adobe Acrobat.
- Using the mouse, click on "Forms and Instructions," and then on the form or forms you want. Hold down the CONTROL button while clicking with the mouse to select more than one item from the list. Then click the "Review Selected Files" bar. A window with your list to download will appear.
- If you have Adobe Acrobat software installed, Adobe Acrobat will be activated when you click on a form in the list. The form will appear as a facsimile of the original and can be saved or printed (look under FILE). If you wish to save the form without opening it in Acrobat first, or if you want to download it from a machine that does not have Acrobat installed, simply click on each form of the final list using the right button of the mouse and click "save link as." The file will be save as a ".pdf" recognizable by the Acrobat Reader.
NC State Tax Forms Online
- Go to the North Carolina Department of Revenue http://www.dor.state.nc.us/ site and click on the button marked "FORMS" or us this link to go directly to the Department's tax forms page at http://www.dor.state.nc.us/forms/
- Be sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader loaded on your machine before you download. It is available free on the net via the tax form page or from Adobe Acrobat.
- Select the category of forms you require (e.g., individual income tax, corporate, etc.) and click on that category.
- If you have Adobe Acrobat software installed, Adobe Acrobat will be activated when you click on a form in the list.
