Your liaison librarian will work with you, by appointment, to research your topic fully in all pertinent databases and suggest advanced search strategies.Reference assistance with questions that arise during your research
You can continue to work with the liaison librarian who assisted you initially, by appointment or in e-mail. If that librarian is not available call the Reference Desk (828) 262-2820.ABC Express delivery of books or periodicals from UNC-A or WCU
Books and periodicals requested through ABC Express arrive in two or three days. Books can be ordered directly through the WNCLN Library Catalog .Interlibrary Loan
Use interlibrary loan for items that are not listed in the WNCLN Library Catalog. The library absorbs any charges it incurs for getting books, dissertations, theses, article photocopies, or other materials you might need. Remember the average turnaround time for interlibrary loan is two weeks . The Interlibrary Loan Office will only work on up to ten requests for person per day--fewer if there have been many other requests submitted that day.Document delivery through Ingenta (See ingenta services for more information)
Ingenta, a multidisciplinary database, indexes over 26,000 periodicals and is updated daily. You'll need to set up a profile before you can mark and order articles; your liaison librarian will help you do this during your database search appointment. Articles are available by fax or available online in HTML or PDF format. Fax orders are filled in 24-48 hours and an online article will be available immediately for downloading.. Articles costing more than $40 are blocked (the average cost of articles in ingenta is around $20).Free Reveal Alerts (See ingenta services for more information)
This service through ingenta allows you to select up to 50 journals which are indexed by the database. You'll receive, by e-mail, the table of contents for each journal whenever a new issue is published. You can also store up to 25 search strategies (authors' names or word combinations which describe topics which interest you). The search strategies will be run against new articles added to the ingenta database each week. You'll receive an e-mail message giving you references for any new articles (as well as selected new books) which matched your stored search strategies.Content editor: John Boyd, boydjd@appstate.edu , Electronic Resources Librarian
