I thought the third floor was supposed to be quiet, can't you patrol or something?

A: We considered issuing tasers to student workers to use on people who are too loud, but the university lawyer advised against this.

Instead, we scheduled our staff to walk through the third floor regularly and ask people to move to another floor if they are making noise.

If you are not comfortable asking another student to keep it down, come to the circulation desk on the first floor and tell us- we'll send a staff member up.

I cannot find anything in this library- what order are the books in?

They are supposed to be in order?

Actually, there is a system- in the main stacks (second and third floors) we use Library of Congress (LC) classification. This means that if it is a work of literature, it would be in the P section. More on how to read call numbers in an academic library.

Downstairs, in the IMC, books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System.

If you can't find something, ask at the reference desk and we'll help you.

These floorplans may also help.

I have some really over-due books that I just got charged $420 for on my student account as lost items. Today one of my friends found them in the trunk of her car.  So, now I was wondering if I turned them back in now if that charge would be taken off of my account or if it is too late.

No, it is not too late!

If you return the books, you won't be charged for the lost items, you'll just have a maximum fine for each item (usually $15.00 per book).
